Diazepam (Valium) and alprazolam (Xanax) are both examples of fast acting? opoid narcotics stimulants benzodiazepines amphetamines

Slacker replied: "benzo's"

Kristen B replied: "Yep, it's benzodiazepines."

Eric J replied: "benzos"

I want to know these things about Alprazolam? I had a panic attack the other night and I was suffering this From 8 pm. May-16th and I'm still feeling nervous, disconected and dreamy with a fast heartbeat today....I was prescribed (Alprazolam) 0.25 Mg and I want to hear some stories from experienced users...What does it feel like when you take it? do you feel nervous? do you fear for the side effects? What are the side effects you feel? I want to take this before I go to bed thank you very much

mlgable replied: "You feel relaxed when you take it. Just like somebody mellowed you out if that makes sense."

Virginia R replied: "I have taken Alprazolam (Xanax) twice...for recreational use only...and basically it made me feel more relaxed and a little uncoordinated...I took .5 mg. though..that's double your dosage...but for me there were no side effects...not much of anything really...just a lot more relaxed and kinda dreamy. hope it helps!"

bambagirl2003 replied: "Alprazolam is widely used and if used properly will not harm you. It will help you feel more relaxed and able to settle down some. Panic attacks can be quite scary at times and it really does help to have a medication to help with them. Many of the patients in the office I work in use this particular medication with excellent results. I wish you the best with this."

greatceasarsghost replied: ".25 mg isnt a whole lot, but itll do the trick probablly. it settles ur nerves, a little bit of man made relaxation. side affects wont be bad unless u take more than prescribed. if u do that you may have memory loss and confusion/disorientation as possible side affects."

kelliekareen replied: "Alprazolam A.K.A Xanax. Don't worry about the medication. You have to take an ungodly amount to harm yourself. Xanax is in the "Diazapam" family. To name a few, klonipin and Valium. It is a common anti anxiety medication and you slowly build up a immunity and have to increase the dosage. I have been on different Diazapams since I was 14. I too have anxiety-panic disorder. I am up to 4 miligrams a day. You are so safe at .25 a day. The only thing is you get rebound anxiety after a while. Klonipin is better, last longer 6-8 hours where as Xanax is 4-6."

Livie replied: "Alprazolam is a good drug to take to alleviate the symptoms from anxiety, which is the primary basis of panic attacks. It has a relatively short half-life, which means that it will clear from your system faster and not give you a feeling of lethargy and tiredness the next day. It will work mildly and make you feel relaxed and a little sleepy if you're not used to taking it. The side effects are fairly mild, and would be what you'd expect in a sedative type medication - drowsiness and tiredness. It's very good to take before bed and should give you a good night's sleep. The side effects are mild enough to not be a cause of worry. Don't take it with alcohol, or if you are going to be driving until you know what it will do to you. Don't take it with grapefruit juice. A dose of 0.25 mg. is very mild, so you shouldn't have anything to worry about."

i would like to ask if taking Alprazolam(Xanax) is good for me ?!!? actualy i suffer sometimes some anxiety, and panic attacks, and my heartbeats become so fast, fearr, stomach problems and discomfort ... those symptoms could happen every day nd every hour for some reason like when i feel uncomfortable with some things that happen,,,,!! i'm 17 years old

rslockard replied: "in my profession i give a lot of xanax to people routinely so no it won't hurt you be sure to get a perscription so that you are taking the amount of milligrams"

Tara J replied: "In my personal experience, Xanax is very effective for use when experiencing a panic attack or when it is known one might occur. Having been on it long-term I would not recommend Xanax or any benzodiazapine for long-term management of anxiety. Tolerance develops very quickly (within weeks) such that you no longer notice the effects of the medicine. In order to come off, you must taper extremely slowly to ensure you do not experience seizures or rebound anxiety. SSRI and SNRI antidepressant medications like Paxil CR and Effexor XR are generally better long-term solutions to preventing anxiety. Because you are so young, you should probably see a psychiatrist especially if you have never been diagnosed."

Please tell me differences among Xanax, Alprazolam and Diazepam.? I want to buy anti-anxiety medication online. please tell me the differences among them. Has any one uses drugconnectionrx online pharmacy? will they provide us to india shipping ? One of my US's friend has suggested me to buy these medicine from drugconnection or drugconnectionrx online pharmacy. but before trying these drugconnectionrx or drugconnection whatever !!! pharmacies i want to be clear about these medicines as well as authenticity of these pharmacy. i will go for best one cheaper as well as fast delivery services. please suggest any one...

David B replied: "1 and 2 are the same drug...valium/diazepam is the original of the group from the 60s. very little difference in effect, just in potency/mg dose."

Clark Gilbert replied: "i think all are generic names of same brand. but i will suggest to take advice from doctors. also i haven't used drugconnection pharmacy personally but one old customer of drugconnectionrx works in my office and had given good review about this pharmacy. also one more important thing drugconnection and drugconnectionrx both are same sister company."

touq. replied: "xanax = alprazolam diazepam is a weaker version of alprazolam. they both do pretty much the same thing though. i've read that it takes 40mg of diazepam to live up to 2mg of alprazolam."

puddles [whip~lashed] replied: "diazapam is valium, and it doesn't make you feel hungover in the am. xanax makes you feel like crap the next day."

Tara J replied: "Alprazolam is the generic name for Xanax, so your choice is between alprazolam and diazepam because you are wasting money not buying the generic. Alprazolam is best for sudden panic attacks. It has a quick onset and short duration without making most people too tired. Diazepam tends to make most people very tired and it also has an extremely long half-life so it is best and superior to Xanax for long-term use. No benzodiazapines are suggested for long-term use and for your safety you should use these under the directions of a doctor and buy the drugs from a reputable and legal source. In the U.S., these drugs are very affordable (less than $20 for 30 day supply without insurance) and if you have an anxiety problem, a good doctor will find the right medication for you. When dealing with general anxiety, benzos are not always the best solution. They are best reserved for panic attacks. In my own experience, SSRIs and SNRIs like Paxil and Effexor have been far superior for long-term treatment."

help on my medication! i dont know if i should stop taking it? i seriously want help.? okay so my story is that i went to the doctor after feeling weak and fast heart beat, and they said my blood pressure was a little high, and that my heart rate was going SUPER fast. and that i had a fever. so they gave me "AMOXICILLIN" for my fever, and "METOPROLOL" for my blood pressure. and "ALPRAZOLAM" for my anxiety. ive been taking these meds for almost 2 weeks now, and no REAL noticible improvements or changes until last night. last night my heart seemed to beat slow and heavy... after beating 90 b/m last night it was beating 67 b/m and i started getting chest pain... it didnt let me sleep. i finally fell asleep at 6 am, then having to wake up at 9 to go to college. im only 18. now my concern was... should i stop taking my anxiety pills? becouse shouldnt they work to make my heart slower? so taking it would just cause my heart to maybe drop below 60 b/m? and i know thats not safe. so i dont know what to do. my doctor cant see me untill monday (3 days from now) and i dont know if i should take my anxiety pill before i go to bed tonight... Please tell me someone here has expirienced this and can help me. will "ALPRAZOLAM" hurt me if my heart has slowed down? or does the heart rate drop not matter? Please and thank you. oh and any tips on how to fall asleep when chest pain and irregular heart beat is bugging the hell out of you?

Lin replied: "Check to see on your medicines if your chest pain is a side effect. If it keeps slowing your heart down, though, i don't know how safe that is, so you may want to stop taking it."

Marius replied: "Two answers to your questions: The anxiety tabs will not drop your heart rate below 60. Its not a beta blocker, and the SA node's intrinsic rate is 60-70 beats per minute. Stress will cause it to be higher, at 90 or even higher. The second one to sleeping with chest pain and irregular heartbeat, is you dont go to bed. You pick up the phone and get an ambulance out. Chest pains from cardiac origin is the result of your heart not getting enough oxygen, and working too hard. The direct result from that if it carries on too long is a heart attack. And no, you are not too young. There are many factors that influence it, like genetics, weight, smoking, diabetes and high blood pressure. Its best to get it checked out if you are concerned about it. And the best place is an emergency department with a cardiologist. They will do blood tests as well to look for cardiac markers, etc."

tim m replied: "try cutting them in half. eat low fat, low salt. eat less red meat and cheese."

Rozerem help? I have just been put on Rozerem and i have took it for the past 2 nights and i will fall asleep pretty fast but will wake up about 10 times during the night. Im also taking Alprazolam and the dr. said to take 1/2 alprazolam and the Rozerem. Both nights have happened like that so i guess my question is has anyone else experienced this? thanks... i was just telling my mom and grandma that i thought i should talk to the dr. about ambien cr but thanks have been helpful

C M replied: "I took Rozerem and I hated it. I had horrible nightmares! If you're also taking xanax you should be able to sleep comfortably. But my experience with Rozerem was horrible. I told my doctor about it, and she put me on Ambien CR. I still find the best thing that helps me sleep is a supplement called melatonin. But be careful with the Rozerem. I'd NEVER go on it again!"

MrPeepers replied: "I've been taking 1/2 alprazolam and 1 ambien CR. Usually gets me 5-6 hours on uninterrupted sleep. I'll have to look into the melatonin aspect."

Anxiety Attack? I have been feeling a wierd pain on the back of my head for the last 4-5 days. I went to the Dr. on sunday and she looked over me and told me we had to get a blood test to better look at how i am doing. Today I i got home around 3pm and jumped in the shower. As I am taking a hot shower I feel my heart start beating faster and faster. At this point im freaking out not wanting to faint or something so i turn off the water and start to get ready. I go to the DR. right away. I wait about 20 min to be seen. I am seen by a different Dr. than I was seen on Sunday. I tell him how I been feelings and he does a heart test at first. EKG or something like that. After the test he tells me that my heart is fine. They then take my blood. He told me the results should be in by Friday. He prescribed Alprazolam 0.25MG. Does this seem like an anxiety attack do you guys? or something else?

fmarin95 replied: "yes. that seems like something i had. it only lasted for like 3 days .. but i always had a head ache and i felt like i was going 2 fall and die. and then i felt like going crazy and screaming but then i just felt worst. hope you get better :-)"

cindyhonstine replied: "Anything is possible. But I don't buy it. If it is an intermittent problem they won't always catch it with an EKG. It is only a 1min. read. The fact you are having these episode in conjunction with the head pain is a concern. I would ask to see the first doctor for any follow up."

ems replied: "when your heart beats fast like that then yes i would assume you were having an anxiety attack. we have panic/anxiety attacks running in my family and that was a sign. the pain in your head i have never seen as a symptom before but the racing heart yes. when you go through the attack you need to tell yourself everything is going to be fine and calm your nerves it is difficult and sometimes can seem impossible but it is for the best. feel better!"

answer machine replied: "I have those attacks all the time, it does sound like a anxiety attack myn are much worse but I don't get a pain in my head. so maybe it isn't all that. I take 2Mg's 4 to 5 times a day for my attacks. Does it help you? Take them you'll like them. I Garnette it."

Nikki replied: "Yes it is anxiety. I take Alprazolam 0.5 mg twice daily. Anxiety affects you at any time, anywhere, but it can be very over-powering and you feel completely helpless. This medication should help you and don't worry because the more you worry the more anxiety attacks you will get. You get all kinds of physical symptoms with anxiety, arms tingling and numb, head pain, sweating, heart racing.. etc... it's normal.. You will be okay.. just take your meds and good luck to you."

Arabian Dune replied: "yes it does. anxiety attacks are always accompanied by fast pounding heart beats, and a sense of impending doom. intense fear is the norm."

Haiti replied: "Some times if you are worried about something in this case your mind might have been worried about what the pain in your head could be and you might have been worrying more than you thought. This can cause stress on your body which can cause an axiety attack. Since the test on your heart turned out fine and if your blood work turns okay, your probably just suffering from an axiety attack. I'm sure not knowing what is causing the pain in your head made you worry more than you thought. Just breathe in and out slowly until your heart rate slows if you feel one come on again. Good luck!"

21 years old with high pulse and blood pressure.? i guess i will just layout the facts first, and then list my life style below to see if anyone can find a link or an idea of whats going on. My pulse jumps from 95 to 120 all the time. most of the time never below 100 and nearly at 110 to 120. my blood pressure use to be pretty good like 120/80, but now anywhere from 130/100 to 160/100. the worst the attack i had was, pulse 150, and pressure 175/110. i got 3 ekg's done, from my doctor, a cardiologist, and the ER. all of them said my hearts fine. the cardiologist gave me a stress test where my heart went up to 189. he said everything fine. blood and urine test twice, once at the doctors, once at the ER. still good cat scan, found nothing wrong. everybody said i have anxiety, so for instance i took a alprazolam 0.5 mg today and i did 3 test. the results - Pulse Pressure 1st 122 131/102 2nd 102 141/103 3rd 105 152/109 this was within an hour i will start with a brief story on how i think, and when i felt everything start. i am 21, 5"11, and weigh 140. since i can remember, i never ate and fruits or vegetables, and i am serious when i say i NEVER ate them. i was eating a lot of fast food and i would only get cheese and mayo on my sandwiches. i only recently changed my diet drastically to eating a lot of fruits but not so much veggies and, almost stop eating any fried food or meat. this probably happened around July or August 09. since i was 13, i drank a lot, smoked cigarettes and marijuana. i played around with other drugs once or twice, but never hooked like the first 3. So when i was 19 i realized cigarettes were stupid and i decided to cold turkey in august 07. everything was fine but i was still drinking and smoking marijuana. it's hard to describe my drinking behavior because i would drink heavy but then i would be on and off. February 08, i decided i will cold turkey marijuana. THE WORST DECISION IN MY LIFE! 1st week - i guess everything was going good till the end of the week 2nd week - i started to get this constant weird pain on the top left side of my chest, and in my left arm. 3rd week - this was the worst week. the pain in the chest and arm were incredible. i should of went to the er but i thought they were withdrawal symptoms. 4th week - the pain started going away but were still their. every since then, the pain was always their, constant and uncomfortable feeling. 7 months later the pain was still their so i thought the best thing to do is, start smoking marijuana and see if the pain would go away. it somewhat went away, but since i was high, i would pay attention to it more. Well i cold turkey drinking and smoking marijuana about August 09, and everyday it seems my pulse and blood pressure get worse. their is probably some things i left out. but if someone can help that would be great. thanks for the reply's. it has been close to 2 months since i drank or smoked. i have been going to the doctors or ER almost every week because of the crazy pain in my chest and arm. my doctor prescribed me alprazolam (xanax), and the ER gave me Clonazepam (klonopin) for anxiety. i have not taken klonopin because of side effects. i take the xanax and i still get the same results. Now my doctor gave me metoprolol for my blood pressure, and i am worried about taking it at such a young age. so now i am drinking to see if i can relax. i am still waiting for results to see if my adrenal gland is bad. i was already checked for my thyroid. my friend drinks and smokes a lot, and his pulse is 75 and pressure 107/75. well if it is stress or withdrawal, i hope it goes away soon. any comments are greatly appreciated.

JB4everMrsNjOnAs replied: "It's obviously the drugs-dont ask on yahoo answers-seek medical help. If you dont, it could cost you your life."

Jeffrey replied: "Your most likely going through extreme withdraw it should go away in about a month but should really see a doctor and explain to s/he what you going through. It also could just be stress."

Can long time marijuana use lead to permanent nervous system damage? I smoked marijuana for two and a half years just about every day. I stopped for a couple of months, then smoked again, and I had my first very intense anxiety attack. After this happened, my anxiety continuously increased getting worse and worse. I noticed throughout my anxiety attacks, and especially in the first one I had, that my vision was REALLY disoriented and it felt like everything was spinning or flipping over. My heart rate was very fast too. I went to the doctor for my anxiety and they did an ANSAR test on me. They said my sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system(s) were imbalanced and abnormally high. I was prescribed to Alprazolam for my anxiety but it is no longer working for me. I get extreme anxiety when I'm not high on marijuana now too. I've stopped smoking because it gives me a horrible anxiety attack and I think sometimes I even hyperventilate. I have heard studies about marijuana causing anxiety and depression, so I would like some insight. Thanks.

Remeron withdrawal? Hello to everybody and thanks for reading my question. I've been living a real hell until now so I had to ask. Well, because of anxiety and depression issues I started taking Remeron (mirtazapine) of 15mg for 7 months. The first months I was feeling great, no depression and no anxiety, but since the first day I took it I felt what I can see now is called as derealization/depersonalization. After seven months I was very scarred with this side effect and because I was feeling anxious again. So I did a cold turkey with my psychiatrist replacing it with Citalopram and Alprazolam. And since I started this withdrawl I'm feeling so bad, I have derealization feelings some times in the day, I wake up at 5-6 am with my heart beating so fast and anxious. I think that I'm going crazy. So the question that is killing me is: Will this depersonalization/derealization (dissociation) feeling caused by this drug after so many months (7)dissappear or will it continue? Or how long will this feeling last? I'd like to add that I lived with this derealization feeling for the whole 7 months without telling my doctor (sorry for my ignorance). I lived with this feeling because I was so happy and without anxiety that I didn't even care for this feeling. And now I don't know what to do, I just need help I'm falling appart. Thanks a lot for your help and sorry for my english. Mauricio.

Benjamin N replied: "arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!! Your doctor has done nothing but put you on another anti-depressant and Xanex(mother's little helper) to help ease the pain.. You would be better off drinking a few Corona's than taking Benzo's. Unless you have a drinking problem....... Let me guess, you came to the states, and it's all a little overwhelming. The U.S. could make anyone stressed and depressed. Your problem is what you have surrounded yourself with. You could ask your doc to put you on a taper schedule because you want to be drug free and you miss your true self. Or you can do it yourself.... Just take it easy, and remember, we have plenty of food around here."
